Budapest Institute of Gemology

In cooperation with ELTE University Institute of Geography and Earth Siences BIG exists to protect all purchasers of gemstones, by providing laboratory services and research to accurately and objectively determine gemstone quality.

A nonprofit institute, BIG's mission is to work out a standard grading sytem of colored stones that can be used all over the world, similar to diamond evaluation system.

BIG is a respected gemological laboratory, entrusted with grading and identifying hundreds of gems from all over the world. BIG laboratory is staffed by expert diamond graders and gemologists. By their precious work BIG researchers have made important contributions to our understanding of gems.

Our laboratory is equiped with modern gemmological instruments and we use internationally accepted methods for determine gemstone quality. .
